Gear characteristics:

1. With high transmission accuracy, belt transmissions cannot guarantee accurate transmission ratios, while chain transmissions cannot achieve constant instantaneous transmission ratios. However, modern involute gear transmission ratios are theoretically accurate and constant. This is not only an important requirement for precision machinery and instruments, but also important for reducing dynamic loads and achieving smooth transmission under high-speed and high load conditions.

2. Widely applicable, the transmission power range of gear transmission is very wide, ranging from 0.001 watts to 60000 kW. The circumferential speed is very slow and can reach up to 150 meters per second, which is difficult to compare with belt and chain transmission.

3. Transmission between any two shafts can be achieved in spaces such as parallel, intersecting, and staggered shafts, which is impossible in belt or chain transmission.

4. Reliable operation and long service life.

5. The transmission efficiency is relatively high, generally ranging from 0.94 to 0.99.

Installation precautions:

1. During gear installation, the backlash between the teeth and the end face swing of the gear should be checked.

2. The gear clearance should ensure the minimum clearance while ensuring smooth and non sticking transmission. Excessive clearance can easily cause transmission impact and noise, and can also damage the gears.

3. Excessive swing of the gear end face can cause unstable transmission and tooth tapping.

4. To check the backlash between the teeth, a thickness gauge or a lead plate can be used to measure the thickness between the meshing teeth.

Use the imprint method to inspect the meshing parts of gears and the installation quality of gears.

6. The correct meshing is that the color length of the imprint is not less than 70% of the length. The width shall not be less than 50% of the tooth height, and it is required to be at the central pitch position of the tooth. The various imprints can roughly reflect the quality of installation.
